Well this post, like most of my project blogs, is late in coming, but not as late as it could be. I had an amazing experience working on the Starlord mask and I can’t wait for my next helmet. Well here we go then.

As soon as I saw the trailer for Guardians I knew I wanted a Starlord helmet. That plus the chance I got to check out Joshua Von Cavender Cole’s version he made from 3D printed parts. I was inspired to do the helmet pretty much from then on.

My plan from the start was to use 3D printing to make ABS parts. I would print the parts of the helmet in as few pieces as possible and glue them together (carefully) to form a mostly completed structure, and then finish the seams withs bondo and do general cleanup work, sand sand sand, and paint. While things didn’t go exactly that way (way less sanding, I have a life to lead), I am really happy with the result.
